After exploring Microsoft office Word, we were assessed by requiring us to edit a thesis. Our professor gave us a sample thesis with wrong format. We are to make necessary corrections and make it presentable and organized. We submitted the output via e-mail.
The activity may seem simple but it’s still a practice to use not just the basic features but the complex ones. By actually trying common or specialized computer programs to get familiar with it would help to have a better performance. If a task requires substantial uses of computers and a specific type of software, students with a higher level of computer literacy, as measured by their proficiency in using that specific combination of hardware/software, achieved significantly better performance. Conversely, if the task requires the use of unfamiliar software, or if the task requires neither the use of computers nor conceptual knowledge of computer hardware/software, students’ level of computer literacy had no significant impact on their performance.
